A whirlwind of endless costume changes, a healthy dose of honesty, and a collective show-stopping climax like no other; this is one emotional kaleidoscope of a journey.

Le Gateau Chocolat made his solo debut in 2011 to great critical acclaim with his self-titled show Le Gateau Chocolat. Audiences globally have since demanded a slice of Gateau and the delectable confection of mesmerising songs and heart-warming tales he shares.

This charming, opera-loving maestro, with a penchant for lycra and an exquisite baritone voice, delivers beautiful renditions of pop, jazz and musical theatre.

Accompanied on cello and piano, Gateau carries his audience from Puccini to Barbara, Radiohead to Madonna; infusing the stories of these songs, with his own incredible tale.

A British born, Nigerian boy with a law degree, unsuspecting mother and a big heart, who against all odds discovered opera, lycra, drag and just the right amount of ass-holism.

“Only a handful of performers can harness the art of drag into something liberating and superhuman. Our own Paul Capsis can do it; Le Gateau Chocolat is in the same league.”

“Tremendously powerful… musically this performance is amazing, theatrically it is great and the fact this is a drag act is rendered irrelevant by the humanity expressed in both.”

– Hairline (UK)

“No performance could ask for more. If you miss Le Gateau Chocolat, you miss the very best of cabaret and solo-performance, and you miss the opportunity to scream in delight and be moved by his passion… one very big heart, enclosed in a fuller-figured chocolate coating and a voice of amazing beauty and versatility, sprinkled with sequins, curly wigs, fabulous make-up, then zipped-up in lycra.”

– Australian Stage (AU)

“Where some cabaret fails to emote, Gateau excels… In turns, sweet, (ful)filling and carefully baked.”
