A Taste Of Le Gateau

A Nigerian-born boy who grew up in London and achieved all what’s expected of him: a good education, a strong sense of what’s right and wrong, a degree in law and – a love for opera, drag and show business.

Le Gateau Chocolat is a one-of-a-kind sensation in cabaret. A larger-than-life vocal talent who can belt out a tumultuous array of hits with his booming baritone and big personality, all parceled up in a fabulous layer of lustrous lycra and sequined dresses.

His shows tell the tale of a man who is completely self-aware of his diva demeanour and explicitly illustrate his love for the glamour and extravagance that come hand in hand with being a drag queen. However, his performances also describe the fears, truths and realities of growing up in a world that can be so divisive in the acceptance of what it considers to be normal.

Also, his mother doesn’t know about what he does. So there’s that too.

Voted by Time Out London as one of its Top 10 Cabaret Stars, Le Gateau Chocolat is a one-man musical phenomenon who has received universal praise and acclaim for both his one-off performances and his self-written shows.

Le Gateau Chocolat has also appeared in several TV shows and advertisements. He was the face and voice of the viral T-Mobile flash mob advert and, since then, his immense vocal stylings have taken him from the Tate Britain to performing at Miss Ireland. He’s sung with Glyndebourne Opera, sung on The Paul O’Grady Show, he’s even sung for the Queen as part of the Jubilee Flotilla. He’s toured the globe with La Soirée, done solo shows at the Sydney Opera House, Menier Chocolate Factory and in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Poland, New Zealand and even come back again to join Basement Jaxx at the Barbican.

His repertoire includes his self-titled debut solo show Le Gateau Chocolat, Le Gateau Chocolat – I ♥ Chocolat, Le Gateau Chocolat – ‘In Drag’ and his latest show Black.”
